Choosing Custom

Custom furniture is not about choosing extravagance over practicality. Commissioning a custom piece is often guided by a specific need, be it aesthetic or practical, that cannot be met by production furniture.

It is also a choice to invest. Custom furniture cannot compete on price with production furniture, but it offers unmatched value. It is built to last decades, rather than to be disposed of in a few years when trends change, parts break, or that feeling of ‘good enough’ turns into buyer’s remorse.

The process of commissioning a piece of furniture is structured to ensure your lasting satisfaction. It begins with a phone consultation to discuss your dream piece. If you like what you hear, you’ll be asked to provide a small design deposit - usually around $250, but this can vary depending on the scope of the project. This amount will be applied to the final cost of the piece.

Thus begins the design phase, where you will work with Jon to develop a design that meets your specific requirements and taste. You’ll have the opportunity to view wood and finish samples, provide design references, give feedback on design options and ask questions when Jon’s inner wood-nerd gets too technical.

This phase is complete only when you sign off on the final design. You will not be hurried through this important decision-making process. The piece you are commissioning is meant to last decades. No need to rush.

So are you custom curious? Then let’s get the ball rolling.

Book a Consultation

We’ll set up a convenient time for a phone call to discuss your project. We’ll talk style, function, budget and timeline. This will serve as the beginning of a longer discussion, so no pressure to have all the answers just yet.
